Where to stay

Rooms with views

On the outskirts of Cabrières, the Cadran Solaire (sundial), an old fortified house with five spacious, welcoming yet unfussy  rooms, greets its guests for a stay at the heart of the vines, the garrigue and clusters of green and white oak trees. From each room there is a panoramic view into the far distance of the countryside. The whole house is registered with Clef Vert and Ecogite de France thanks to its bioclimatic characteristics (solar heating …).Starting in spring, organic breakfasts are served under sunshades on the terrace … just the place to relax.

Ecogîtes

Situated at the heart of wild countryside, the Clos Romain’s two holiday homes (2 to 6 people), have been renovated with the most ecological material possible (stone, wood, lime, clay and Provencal ochre). Out of season, the owners arrange wine tourist stays with visits to neighbouring domaines, tastings etc).

Around Cabrières

A green haven

The entrance is truly majestic. An impressive gate opens onto this green haven. Two superb lawns surround an 18th century stone pond. Hundred year old horse chestnuts and many other sweet smelling trees tempt one to a shady siesta … unless the pool, opposite an old greenhouse, is more tempting. The four guest rooms are just at the entrance of Cazouls-d’Herault; they’re on the frst floor of a lovely 19th century home at the heart of a hectare of garden surrounded by vines. Our favourite room ?  It’s named Henriette, the name of the present owners’ aunt. She had left Beziers to settle in this house she loved so much. The room enjoys the rising sun and reflects the house’s style. A polychrome stucco ceiling and the columns around a red marble fireplace hint at the house’s rich décor. Antique furniture and terracotta floor tiles take you back to a different era.

At the heart of the vines

At the heart of the vines, the Cayrat domaine, built at the end of the 19th century,  was once owned by the Countess of Saint Germain, an ancestor of the current owners. Nowadays there are three holiday homes and two b & bs. Lovingly decorated, they were renovated and converted from the buildings that once housed the estate’s tenants and harvesters. There’s a great swimming pool too.
